Today we’re back with a continuation of our series, Blunders To Steer Clear Of After Getting Engaged
Mistake number two: – Taking On Too Much, Too Fast
Hooray, it’s happened! He proposed, you said Yes! You get to start planning the wedding of your dreams.
Pull out that dream wedding album you started when you were a little girl. You documented your ideas, designs and dreams for your big day in one little book that you’ve kept tucked under your bed since then. You’ve most likely hit the ground running and you want the whole world to know you’re engaged! You obsessively search blogs, magazines and Google things for your wedding until your brain feels like it’s going to explode!
But wait! Take a break. Don’t Google one more web search! Back away from the computer and turn it off. Many wedding blogs update three or four times a day it seems, so you may feel the need to stay caught up. Enjoy being engaged and this special time in your life. Set your wedding date far enough that you’re not rushing through the details. Pace yourself so you don’t appear as though you’re trying to be a contestant in the Amazing Race. You’ll burn yourself out before your wedding day.
Take some time for you and your “Sweetie” to get used to the idea. The truth of the matter is you’ve survived! You made it through the unquestionably nerve-racking area already: the dating world and you’ve realized you found your perfect match. Someone to share your goals and dreams with.
So ask yourself…… at the end of day what are all of the things that are important to you? Yes, flowers are important, table arrangements, the music, the cake. Those are important pieces to your wedding day, but what’s more important is that you are walking down the aisle towards someone who loves you regardless of your wedding style.
